Reconditioning refers to the process of identifying faulty individual battery modules within the battery pack and discerning which ones need to be replaced. Afterwards multiple deep discharge-charge cycles are brought to all modules in parallel which restores lost capacity and resets each module to a common state of charge.
Because hybrid battery costs can be as much as the vehicle itself, it’s always a good idea to check out all the options available for your vehicle such as reconditioning and refurbishing before going the route of replacement.
Most dealerships will recommend a hybrid battery replacement when asked about issues with hybrid batteries. In some cases, when it’s been verified that the battery is failing, it may only be two modules of the hybrid battery pack at fault. The car’s computer can disable the vehicle when a single module drops below a voltage threshold. This can be deceptive and lead you down the road to buying a new hybrid battery.
